The new millennium has witnessed the growing vitality throughout
the world of new media art, an art mediated via digital means,
often with the Internet as its platform. This emerging art,
originating from an increasingly technologically dependent society,
not only challenges traditional creative media and ways of thinking,
but also posits to artists and cultural workers new questions
concerning all realms of contemporary life.
Millennium Dialogue aims at creating a constructive dialogue
and promoting a dynamic interaction between Chinese artists
and international trends in digital art education, production
and theorization. Showcasing the creative energy and innovative
spirit of these
institutions, the works manifest highly original
artistic accomplishment and academic excellence. The New York Digital
Salon is one of twenty-eight invited institutions participating the
First Beijing International New Media Art Exhibition and Symposium.
Drawing from its eleven-year history, the New York Digital Salon presents
the best animations and digital print work from past Digital Salon
exhibitions as well as new work from digital art pioneers.
