_grau is a highly dramatic work made in response to a
personal experience of the artist. In this piece, the visual
imagery is not a translation of the music; rather the image
and sound evolve in tandem with each other, as separate
but related expressions of a common event, which are treated
in a similar way. For instance, both the music and the
visualization contain references to corporeal experience— the shape of a hand or the sound of a motor—but only as a
suggestion that this abstract realm might be connected to the
