Lucas van der Velden and Gideon Kiers are the founding members of Telcosystems. Lucas van der Velden (1976, Eindhoven) lives and works in Rotterdam. Gideon Kiers (1975, Amsterdam) lives and works in Rotterdam and Reykjavik. Both studied at the Interfaculty Image and Sound, a department at the Royal Conservatory and the Royal Academy in The Hague. They started the Telcosystems in 2001 to explore new modes of audiovisual expression. They are also initiators of 0010, minuszero, D:U:M:B and DLF and members of the curatorial team for the Sonic Acts festival in Amsterdam.

Telcosystems researches the relation between the behavior of programmed numerical logic and the perception of a conversion of this behavior into the physical world, seeking for its own narrative in the world of abstract spatial image and sound. The hallmark of their work is its lucid and restrained aestheticism, which is closely related to the technology they use. Telcosystems collaborate regularly with artists such as coH (Ivan Pavlov RU/se) and David Kiers (NL).

They produce films, video clips, live performances, installations, software, soundtracks, and prints. Their work has been shown at film- and new media festivals such as Abstraction Now (Vienna), .MOV festival (Tokyo), EMAF (Osnabrück), Sonar (Barcelona), Shortfilm Festival Oberhausen (Oberhausen), Airwaves (Reykjavik), Ctrl-Alt-Del (Maastricht), De Appel (Amsterdam), Mu (Eindhoven), Boijmans van Beuningen (Rotterdam) and Künstlerhaus (Vienna). Recent works have been released on Sound X Vision DVD compilation, Tokyo JP (GAS AS-IF NODG-00002); Wrong Festival compilation CD, Barcelona ES (ERRORCLUB.CD001); Ctrl-Alt-Del compilation CD, Maastricht NL (MARRES / NOMAD).
